Environment

The Fine Today Group has identified "Response to climate change" and "Conservation of the natural environment and biodiversity,
and realization of a circular society" as material issues. We are advancing initiatives across the value chain
with the goal of reducing its overall environmental impact by 50 percent.

FineToday Group Basic Environmental Policy

The FineToday Group established the FineToday Group Basic Environmental Policy in 2023 to provide a clear statement of the basic principles and action guidelines for Group initiatives to protect the environment. The policy sets the priority areas for our environmental initiatives as climate change, biodiversity, water, a sound material-cycle society (circularity), and air and chemicals management.

FineToday Group Basic Environmental Policy

Through our personal care products, we strive to provide people all around the world with a fine day, and at the same time, we are contributing to the realization of a sustainable society by working to protect the global environment through our business activities in order to beautify and enrich the lives of those in future generations.

■Corporate Social Responsibility

We in the FineToday Group recognize the social responsibility that we bear as a company, and in addition to complying with laws, regulations, and international rules aimed at conserving the global environment, providing our employees with environmental education, and collaborating with local communities, we also intend to proactively disclose information and engage in other forms of environmental communication.

Our responses to climate change

In line with our Basic Environmental Policy, the FineToday Group strives to fulfill its social responsibility to protect the environment and help realize a sustainable society.
The Material Issues "Fine Today & Tomorrow" designates addressing climate change issues as a priority area, and we are making climate change initiatives a management priority.

Action towards a sound material-cycle society (circularity)

FineToday Group considers the realization of circularity as a priority issue. In order to realize the circularity, various efforts are necessary throughout the entire value chain, such as: reducing waste and promoting recycling at business sites; improving sustainability in our product packaging; and reducing waste and reviewing materials used in distribution and sales.
We will develop ways and means to contribute to the realization of the circular economy through our activity towards the circularity.

Action concerning the development of containers and packaging

FineToday Group believes that, while containers and packaging are necessary for important reasons, such as to protect contents, ensure convenient use and handling, and provide information, it is also essential to design containers and packaging with consideration for the environment in order to realize a sustainable society. For this reason, we have formulated and enacted the FineToday Group Sustainable Containers and Packaging Development Guidelines, which take into account the 4Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Renew) from the development stage onward for all of the containers and packaging used for our products. We develop containers and packaging materials for all products from a circular economy perspective, aiming to achieve 100% sustainable packaging.

Action to reduce petroleum-based virgin plastics use

While petroleum-based virgin plastics are highly useful and essential to daily lives, they also have adverse impacts on the global environment, including contributing to marine plastic pollution and global warming from greenhouse gases emissions during production and incineration. Fine Today Group has set a goal of reducing petroleum-based virgin plastics used in containers by more than 25% by 2030 compared to 2022 levels.
We aim to balance business growth with the sustainable development by further expanding refill products with low environmental impact, promoting larger size products, and adopting sustainable materials.

Action concerning sales promotional materials

Together with Shiseido Japan Co., Ltd., Unicharm Corp. and Lion Corp., FineToday will gradually change the plastic parts used in the point-of-purchase (POP) promotional materials* at retail stores and on sales floors to paper in order to reduce the use of plastic. Through our concerted efforts to reduce the use of plastics not only in products but also in promotional materials, we use the influence as leading companies in the daily goods and cosmetics categories to contribute to the development of an environmentally-friendly society and industry as a whole.

Conservation of the natural environment and biodiversity

Fine Today Group recognizes the conservation of natural capital as an important management issue and has identified "conservation of the natural environment and biodiversity" as a material issue in the "Planet" category.
FineToday uses the TNFD framework to understand the relationship between its Group and nature, assess its impacts and dependencies on natural capital, and evaluate related risks and opportunities in order to consider appropriate response options.

* TNFD is an international network of private companies and financial institutions cooperating to establish a framework to assess and disclose risks and opportunities for natural capital and biodiversity.

Sustainable raw-materials procurement

FineToday Group uses palm oil as one of its main raw materials. Environmental and human rights issues have been raised concerning the extraction and cultivation of palm oil.
In April 2022, FineToday participated in the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), an international certification system that promotes the production and use of sustainable palm oil.
In 2025, we established a certified palm oil procurement system through the acquisition of supply chain certification. We are working toward achieving 100% use of RSPO-certified palm oil by 2030.
